Ceta-Base | Captive Dolphin & Whale Database

Or’census – Captive Orcas (Historical)

The Ceta-Base website functions as an online database of captive cetaceans (whales, dolphins, and porpoises) held in human care worldwide.

On the Historical Or’census, you will find lists of captive killer whales, organized by the facility they were living at when they died. This page reflects historical holders – facilities that have displayed killer whales at some point in their history, but do not currently display them. Some facilities listed below have closed while others have simply discontinued their display. Within each facility an inventory of every known historical animal will be listed – this includes deceased and historical listings. On the historical pages, some animals may be listed with an unknown to “lost to follow up” designation.

All information found on this page can be obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, the Marine Mammal Inventory Report (MMIR), organizational press releases, professional journals, internet forums, message boards, and other sources of public information.
