Park History

Changfeng Ocean World上海长风海洋世界 was built in 1999 and occupies an area of more than 10,000 square meters.  The park is located within Changfeng Park and is the first aquarium in Shanghai.  The facility is the only one in Shanghai to house belugas with the first animals – Jun Jun & Wei Wei – arriving to the park in December 2003.  Following the death of Wei Wei, two dditional whales were imported in 2011.

In 2012, Changfeng Ocean World was purchased by Merlin, a parent company of Sea Life (based in the UK).  Since the purchase, Merlin has been working with the non-profit Whale & Dolphin Conservation to establish a sanctuary for the whales living at Changfeng.

Are Xiao Bai and Xiao Hui the two last beluga going to Merlin/WDC sanctuary in Iceland? (I think the english names are Little white and little gray?) And does this conclude all captive marine mammals at Changfeng Ocean world?

Lorraine, yes, Xiao Bai & Xiao Hui are Little White & Little Gray (expand the row to see more details), they are the only cetaceans at Changfeng.
