The timeline sections below record life-history events across all cetacean species including birth, death, transport, stillbirth/miscarriage, stranding/rescue, capture/re-capture/return and release/escape. Each event is color-coded by type for clarity. Entries reflect the best available information for the year displayed, and tables will be updated as new or corrected details become available.

You can filter each decade table using the “Filter Animals” search box above each table. To view events from a specific year within the decade, simply type the year (e.g., “2025”). You may also enter any term including species, region, facility, or event type to narrow the results. Examples include: “North America,” “bottlenose,” “bottlenose born,” “2025 death,” or combined filters such as “North America bottlenose.” Each column is sortable as well (e.g., Name, Origin Date, Location), allowing you to explore the data in multiple ways.
